So if you’re listening to this, maybe you’re asking yourself the question, why am I having to listen to this on our website on concapadvisory.com? How come I can’t listen to this on YouTube or Spotify or any of the other social media platforms out there. Well, the reason is really simple.
There are multiple parts to it, but the long and the short of it is that we did try. We had a YouTube channel for a couple years and they’re still on YouTube. You’re welcome to watch them if you want to. But the reason that we don’t do that anymore is because we found that generally speaking, they’re just unserious people on YouTube. And I think the people that spend their time on YouTube, they’re doing that to kill their time. They’re doing that because they really have nothing better to do with their lives than to doom scroll, which is pretty sad, but that’s why they’re there. They’re just looking to kill time. They’re definitely not thinking about financial independence and financial freedom and living authentic and intentional lifestyle. They’re not thinking about any of that stuff. Uh, they’re just depressed. They’re depressed with their lives and they don’t want to do anything different. They don’t want to do anything about it. And so they just stay on there, and I think the analogy that I think of is like a dog that’s chasing its own tail. It just kind of gets stuck in a mental loop. And for a lot of those folks, you just don’t want to get off the couch, they don’t want to do anything. That’s one thing that I recognized.
The other thing also is that the social media algorithm itself is built for people to stay on there. It’s developed and designed to be as a addictive as possible. And for the people who own that stuff, it’s good for business, I suppose. And it doesn’t even matter if the algorithm is spitting out things that really have no value whatsoever, but there are people who are willing to consume that kind of stuff. And I think these companies know it. So I thought to myself, you know, why am I competing in this space? You know, why am I competing in the race to the bottom? Everybody’s trying to figure out how to get those clicks and how to capture people’s attention.
Screw that.
I’m not interested in that kind of game. And that’s why I decided that social media, YouTube, Spotify, whatever. It’s just not my thing. It’s not the space that I want ConCap® to be in. That’s for other people, let them do that. You know, if they want to waste their lives, go right ahead. But here on this website, I want only serious people to come here. That’s it. I want people who really want what we’re offering. Going on a journey to your financial independence, to your financial freedom, some of you will want to retire early. And you’ll make the extra effort. You’ll be okay with the user interfaces, maybe not being as nice as they are on those social media platforms, because you know this is important. That’s why you’re here.
The last thing I wanted to do by getting completely off social media is I wanted to remove people from the conversation who are not really contributing to it. So that’s the other problem that you have on, say, places like YouTube is that if you could eat and sleep and go to the bathroom, then you have a microphone. You can put out a video. It doesn’t matter if it’s totally made up, not well thought about, completely invalid. You get a microphone. You can put out a video. You can put out a comment here and there. You can like or dislike. This or that. And to me, it’s really silly because you have a conversation that’s dominated by people who are pushing towards extremes, because that’s what the algorithm likes. And it dumbs down the conversation considerably. So I wanted to just completely cut out those people because once again, they don’t have anything better to do with their lives. And so I’m not gonna put anything of real substance on a platform that gives those kind of people a microphone. Just morons, these people are, serious people are catching onto this kind of thing. They’re just morons on social media, and they have nothing better to do than to sit in their grandmother’s basement and type out comments. They have no life, and that’s fine for them. It’s just not something that I want to be a part of.
So that’s why we’re not on any platform, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Spotify. We’re not gonna deal with those kind of people. And, I wanted to remove them from the conversation, and by doing this, I have removed them from the conversation.
So I hope that helps in giving you an explanation on why we are not on YouTube.
